The VARD 9 105 is a Hydrographic Survey vessel designed for the South African Navy to perform hydrographic surveys and scientific research around Southern Africa and Antarctica. The core mission of the vessel is hydrographic and oceanographic surveys. Secondary mission capabilities include search and rescue, disaster relief, replenishment at sea and cargo resupply.

The vessel is designed to Lloyd’s Naval Rules for worldwide operation, with capability to operate in Antarctica in the summer months.

Accommodation for 120 sailors and scientists is provided along with aviation and medical facilities.

The Vard 4 07 is an economical and capable compact SOV. There is space to accommodate up to 60 technicians in superior offshore comfort with spaces for off-shift recreation and down time. The articulating gangway and 3D motion compensated crane provide enormous flexibility and performance for all windfarm support operations. Configured with space and services to accommodate a 7t mid size helicopter, CTV transfers and full walk to work step free operations, the Vard 4 07 is a compact yet immensely capable SOV.

The Vard 4 19 is a highly capable large offshore windfarm Service Operations Vessel (SOV) capable of carrying up to 90 technicians in superior comfort on an operationally impressive platform. It’s DP-2 redundancy configuration and performance is supplemented by an optional energy storage system allowing for hybrid and battery only periods of operation. The articulating gangway and 3D motion compensated crane provide enormous flexibility and performance for all windfarm support operations. Combined with an optimized hullform to deliver low vessel motion responses to varying sea states and a vessel configuration to support 30 days endurance, this SOV is a true offshore windfarm technician’s operating tool.

The VARD 7 510 LC is a landing ship designed for the projection and support of forces, amphibious operations and landing, support of maritime special ops, patrol of EEZs, and humanitarian assistance.

The vessel is fitted with combination watertight bow and stern ramps providing access to an open RoRodeck. Vehicles are loaded at the pier via the stern ramp and the bow ramp facilitates landing vehicles on shore.

The vessel has significant capabilities for off-loading heavy equipment, carrying cargo, transporting troops, launching boats, and supporting aviation.

VARD 7 100 ICE

The Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship is a VARD 7 100 design that is capable of speeds of over 17 knots in open water and 3 knots ice breaking in 1 m of level ice. The ship was designed to have good seakeeping performance in addition to good icebreaking performance so that the ship can be utilized for patrolling all three of Canada’s coastlines. Vard Marine and BMT Fleet are currently assisting the DND Project Management Office in the development of the System Requirements Document (SRD) and RFP.
